Darren's presentation will be as follows:

Leveraging Diversity to Your Advantage
Throughout the 20th century - and still in many places today - gays and lesbians have had to hide their sexual orientation in order to avoid losing clients, losing promotions, or even losing their job.  However, in the early part of the 21st century, many members of the LGBT community have come to realize that being gay or lesbian need not be a hindrance in the business world, but rather can be a strong competitive advantage.  As the founder of a nonprofit organization focused on helping entrepreneurs in the LGBT community succeed, Darren Spedale will share some helpful hints on how you can leverage the LGBT community to enhance your business success.

Darren Spedale is Co-Founder of A-List Global Media LLC, a media and entertainment company that produces consumer products. Its first product, PopCardz, has been sold in over 5,000 stores globally such as Wal-Mart, Target, KMart, and dozens of other chains. Before business school, he spent two years with a start-up venture that raised funds for non-profit organizations through online activities and unique content. He has served as an advisor to several start-ups. Mr. Spedale was previously an Investment Banker at Lehman Brothers covering technology companies, where he executed numerous transactions related to mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, financings and IPOs, and was a co-founder of Lehman’s Venture Capital Coverage initiative. Mr. Spedale has additionally practiced law as a Corporate Attorney at White & Case LLP.  He also wrote a book on same-sex marriage ("Gay Marriage: For Better or For Worse?" Oxford University Press) while on a Fulbright Fellowship in Europe. He holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, a law degree from Stanford Law School, and received a Bachelor’s degree from Duke University.
